AFRAID

Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the Lord's commands and your instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them." - 1 Samuel 15:24

Knowing what's right and doing what's right are two very different things. When we are put in positions of leadership, there is a need for great wisdom to know the path, but also a need for great conviction to follow that path regardless of public opinion. Saul fell into the trap of people pleasing.

Confession: I am a recovering people pleaser. I will often let what people think of me affect my decisions. This is why my prayer time with God and centering on His will is desperately important to me. When Christ is at the center of my life, my choices lie in what best will bring His kingdom to this earth. It's a matter of choosing which voice to listen to - the voices of those around us (though wise counsel is important) or the voice of the Spirit. God is asking us, "Will you obey?"

ThoughtPrayer: "Lord, help me be obedient."
