The word "face" is also translated "favor". As people following Christ, we are seeking God's favor with our lives. Every step, every moment. This means that we need to be God-centered even when no one else is looking. If how we live publicly and how we live privately have drastic differences, this is where deep patterns of sin can take root. This is not to say that we shouldn't leave some things to be private in our lives. But when we put on a persona to keep people (and possibly God) impressed, this is a steep slope.
The good news in all of this is that our King allows us to meet with Him all we want. In days of old, getting an audience with the king was to have his favor. Only highly favored people would have this kind of access. But we, through the shed blood of Jesus have this with the King of kings! How amazing is that?
Today, let's seek God in every moment recognizing that our King not only tolerates us, but desires this kind of intimacy.
